Michael Cawley

Chairman

Michael was deputy CEO and COO of Ryanair from 2002-2014 having originally joined the company in 1997 as commercial Director and the CFO. Previously, he was Group Finance Director with Gowan Group (1993-1997) and prior to that led a management buy-out in Athlone Extrusions. Michael was Chair of Failte Ireland from 2014-2020. He is currently Chair of Hostelworld Group and holds NED Positions with Ryanair. His current NED portfolio also includes NED positions with a range of private companies; GMS Professional imaging ltd, Meadowbrook heights (unlimited Co), Prepaypower Holdings Ltd and Gowan Group Ltd.

Anne Dooley

Chief Executive Officer

Anne, a mechanical engineer, joined Winthrop Technologies in 1997 during Winthrop’s start-up phase.

During her time as Manager Director, Anne oversaw the company’s pivot to becoming a leading dedicated turnkey data centre contractor delivering throughout Europe.

Through the years as a director and shareholder, whilst maintaining a focus on project delivery and cost management Anne continued the development and attraction of talent and growing the support functions needed to allow the business to operate successfully in new countries.

As Chief Executive Officer, Anne, together with her fellow directors and the wider Leadership Team, will ensure that Winthrop retains its focus on delivery for its clients, whilst providing great career and growth opportunities for her colleagues.

Bernard Keane

Managing Director

Bernard joined Winthrop in 2004 and previously oversaw projects in the pharmaceutical and life science sectors before taking responsibility for the delivery of our data centre projects.
As a director and shareholder, Bernard has played a key role in the rapid growth of our business throughout Europe and together with his co-directors is very proud to see Winthrop become a market leader in the data centre sector.
Bernard retains a hands-on approach by combining a project sponsor role while also overseeing the day-to-day activities of the business in his role as Managing Director.

Barry English

Non-Executive Director

Barry is the founder of Winthrop Technologies and majority shareholder in the company. He qualified with an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering in the prestigious University College Dublin in 1988. He has worked in the building services industry for 30 years both nationally and internationally.

Having been involved in most of the company’s many projects since its foundation,  Barry also specialises more specifically in Mission Critical solutions and has an inherent knowledge of the Data Centre market for the last 20 years.

When required Barry provides a very hands-on approach when dealing with key clients. He provides a trifecta of market experience, commercial astuteness, and engineering knowledge. Barry has enabled the company to grow in a controlled and profitable manner since its foundation.

Conor Roche

Non-Executive Director

From 2009 to 2019, Conor worked initially as COO and later as CEO for BELFOR (Europe) GmbH which was responsible for BELFOR operations in Europe and Asia.

Prior to joining BELFOR, Conor was M&A Director for Celesio AG (later McKesson Europe) from 2003 to 2005 and then MD of Movianto Group, a pan-European logistics business within the Celesio group from 2005 to 2008. Conor started his own strategic consulting practice (Codira Consulting) in 2020, in his consulting business, he provides strategic consulting services to mainly international clients across a broad range of sectors.

Paul Lynch

Non-Executive Director

Paul currently works as Senior Advisor and Non-Executive Director for a number of companies across a range of Industry sectors.

He qualified as Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen in 1990 before embarking on a wide-ranging career in corporate finance and senior management across a number of industry sectors.

He previously served as CFO of Applegreen plc where he was appointed to lead the IPO of the company, He also worked for Heiton Group plc for ten years including seven as Director leading their corporate development activities as well as acting as MD of a number of their business units.

Padraig Carley

Company Secretary & CFO

Padraig joined Winthrop in 2020 as CFO and has been company secretary since 2022. He is responsible for the finance and related support functions of the organisation. He has been active, since joining, in building out the depth and capability of the Group support functions.

Padraig has extensive experience in senior finance roles across a number of sectors. He has been central to the profitable management of a number of high-growth companies during his career.

He graduated with an honours degree in Commerce from University College Dublin and subsequently from UCD Smurfit Business School with a Masters in Accounting. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant (FCA), having trained in PwC.
