Sarah Leahy speaks with The Independent about her journey in engineering

We’re proud of the different journeys that bring people into Winthrop, and Sarah Leahy’s is a brilliant example of passion, resilience and growth.

Sarah Leahy ran the first leg of the women's 4x100m relay at the London Athletics Meet at the London Diamond League in 2025, helping the team to set a new national record of 43.73 seconds. Image: Eric Bellamy/shutterdublin

From discovering engineering in school to building her career in our BIM team, Sarah’s story is made even more impressive by what she achieves outside of work. As Ireland’s current 60m indoor champion, the same focus and determination she brings to athletics is clear in her approach to engineering.

Sarah recently shared her journey, her motivations and what purpose in engineering means to her in an article with the Irish Independent. Well worth a read 👇
