In June, 10 of our colleagues headed to the Round Room at The Mansion House in Dublin to attend the Engineers Ireland Women in Engineering Society Annual Conference.

ear’s theme was Engineering Intelligence. The discussions throughout the day perfectly illustrated this concept, focusing heavily on the unique creativity, leadership, and human insight that engineers bring to solving the world’s most complex problems.
Our team spent the day immersed in thought provoking sessions that explored the future of the industry. Key takeaways that resonated deeply with our group included:
- Owning Your Career: Engaging discussions around professional growth, specifically navigating when to push, pivot, or pause in your career journey.
- The Human Edge: Exploring why empathy, resilience, and inner drive are just as vital to engineering excellence as technical competence.
- Rewriting the Rules: Challenging outdated stereotypes and pushing for a more inclusive definition of engineering that welcomes diverse skillsets and backgrounds.
One of the highlights of the day was the Power Pods Idea Exchange. Rather than just listening to presentations, our team actively participated in small group, interactive discussions. Notably, Celia Garcia González, Regional Planning Lead, was invited to host a session titled “Planning Smarter: Designing the Future Before It’s Built”. Celia’s session drew heavily on her extensive experience managing major infrastructure developments. Her invitation to host was a fantastic acknowledgment of her industry expertise and leadership.
