The Board of Winthrop Technologies, Europe’s leading dedicated turnkey data centre solutions provider, today announced the appointment of Dr. Ulrich Spiesshofer as Chair.
Dr. Spiesshofer previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of global electrification and automation company ABB.
He brings more than three decades of experience in executive and board leadership, active portfolio management, and global operational transformation across many sectors including industry, energy and infrastructure.

Since 2020, Dr. Spiesshofer has been a Senior Advisor to Blackstone, the world’s largest alternative asset manager, and takes active board and investor roles in Blackstone portfolio companies as well as other leading public and privately owned technology firms in Europe, Americas and Asia. He currently serves on the advisory Board of Infineon AG, a global semiconductor technology leader.
Until 2019, Dr. Spiesshofer was President and CEO at ABB, the global leader in power and automation for six years and member of the executive committee for 14 years. Under his leadership ABB transformed into a leader focused on digital industries and one of the most respected technology companies at the nexus of industrial products, energy solutions, robotics and software.
